The Black Swan could be described as Indy-rock, but couldn't be confined to this genre, as there is much versatility in their music, songs like "Sleepy Love Town" come off like 50's ball room ballads, where as another, "The Pirate Song", could have been played in the hull of a ship in the 1600's during cruising the Caribbean. For the most part The Black Swan merge the borders of folk and hard rock. The Band consists of the harrowing vocals and rhythmic guitar of singer/song-writer, Miss Wolf-Arrow Rain, who has been performing solo for the past 10 years in Melbourne and has moved to Tasmania to team up with Drummer, Mr. Brendan Kays, who’s been cruising the Hobart music scene for around the same period of time. He is known from such bands as Growling Swallet, The Klap and Voxsound. He's also currently playing with James Brook, recently supporting Mutiny (Melb) and Sydney City Trash (Syd). The Black Swan began in early January, jamming on the front porch, and moved to the stage by the end of the month, with their first appearance at the Lewisham Tavern. They continued to play with audiences at The Lark Distillery, The Trout, The Republic Bar, The Telegraph, Dr Syntax, Launceston Unibar, King Of Burnie, etc, etc, including many benefit gigs for the Southern Forests in Tasmania. The Black Swan Currently holds a residency at the Lark Distillery, next performance being October the 19th. With continual plugging from Tas Music and The Australian Song Writers Association, The Black Swan is becoming well known in Tasmania, recently playing on ABC Local Radio (29th Aug). They have great reviews in "Sauce" and "Togartus" magazines, and have just released their first EP, titled "Sleepy Love Town".
