P.chiMy name is Peachy. I am an activist, musician, artist, environmental events promoter and mum! My passion is driven by an immense love and connection to this planet, and my priority is to promote environmental awareness and social conscience amongst its peoples. My art reflects this passion. My music could best be described as activist folk punk. Songwriting is my way of processing the immense pool of feeling I have about our continued destruction of the environment, as well as the great strength and inspiration I gather from the community of people who are fighting to protect it. My main art form is photography, but I also enjoy sculptural and 3D work, particularly with found and recycled objects. My other great passion is writing. A lot of my time is spent organising events that promote environmental awareness and strengthen community. I have recently been working from the Houn Valley Environment Centre(HVEC) on the Weld Valley forest campaign, but I have also spent a lot of time in desert country in recent years and I am dedicated to the anti-nuclear movement. I have worked both in community development and grass roots organisations. Some of my achievements include: coordinating the Past Present Future Youth Reconciliation Project and the EAR Festival in Newcastle, co-founding the Alice Action community group in Alice Springs, and recent events coordination for the HVEC which include the Weld Valley Ball and the Chicks Not Gunns art and caberet show. I am currently founding an environmental activist and artist performance collective. For further information contact reachpeach(at)gmail.com. login to post comments
